Mary Alice Bowers Named Human Resource Professional of the Year by Greenville Society for Human Resource Management
Mary Alice Bowers, vice president of human resources for T&S Brass and Bronze Works, was honored as the Human Resource Professional of the Year for 2018 by the Greenville Society for Human Resource Management (GSHRM). The award recognizes excellence in the human resource profession, honoring those who contribute to organizational success, advance the profession and demonstrate innovation in their role. “As we reviewed Mary Alice’s nomination, the award committee couldn’t help but take notice of the caliber of work she was doing and the kind of person she is,” said Gail De Priest, chair of the GSHRM award committee and Clemson MBA director of corporate relations. “In particular, her work supporting T&S Brass as it has grown into a global company speaks volumes about her capabilities and her commitment.” As a member of the T&S executive team, Bowers has spearheaded efforts to ensure a knowledge succession plan within the T&S workforce and participated in the acquisition of and integration with Italy-based manufacturer Klarco. She also led T&S to be named a Top Workplace in South Carolina for 2018. “Everyone on our growing T&S team has Mary Alice to thank for helping us create and maintain an engaging, thriving and safe workplace,” said Claude Theisen, T&S president and CEO. “She is an excellent and esteemed leader, and we are proud to see her win this well-deserved award.” Bowers will go on to compete for the state HR Professional of the Year award presented by the South Carolina SHRM State Council. Bowers has been with T&S since 1991 and in her role as vice president of human resources since 2006. She is involved in several community organizations, including the North Greenville University Business Education Partnership, Greenville Technical College Northwest Campus Advisory Board and Three Rivers Baptist Association Personnel Committee.
