2024 Kitchen & Bath Trends
By Lynne Brandon
“Smart plumbing fixtures offer surprising benefits for the homes we build from reducing waste, lowering monthly bills to making living spaces trendier. Advances in plumbing technologies have allowed builders to introduce smart technology to homeowners with fixtures designed to be more efficient, convenient, sustainable and hygienic.” — Neil & Megan Robinson, Neil Robinson Custom Homes LLC
The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) 2024 Trend Outlook Report coincided with the annual KBIS held in Las Vegas in February. The report highlighted trends for the home, particularly the bathroom and kitchen. Many featured products were displayed by manufacturers at KBIS. From modern design to smart and sustainable products, there is something for every home in the 2024 kitchen and bath roundup.
The ASID Trend report featured some highlights that showcased key shifts and indicators affecting the kitchen and bath industry. Modern, contemporary design styles continue to be strong in bathrooms. In 2024, look for these features to move toward the kitchen, the room in the home that is the most used. Spa-inspired amenities will continue to create a sense of serenity and luxury in bathrooms. This will be seen in features such as steam showers with rain heads, showers with curb-less entry and more stone, quartz, and marble materials.
Post-pandemic, homeowners still seek clean-ability and durability. In bathrooms, many are opting for quartz sink, vanities and large slabs or solid surface panels as a grout-less option, particularly in showers. Consumers are also looking for matte and brushed [metal] finishes, enhanced with “Spot Defense” for fewer watermarks. Pragmatic, utility spaces offer unique design opportunities. “Less can be more” with mudrooms being combined with laundry rooms, optimizing space.
Lifestyle is Key
Quartz sinks continue to grow and gain in popularity within the kitchen sink market as an alternative to stainless steel due to its durability and range of bold colors. Zurn Elkay Water Solutions, the industry’s largest supplier of cleaner water solutions for drinking water, hygiene and sustainable water management, launched in March new quartz collections. These timeless sinks work with a variety of modern faucets. Lifestyle and fashion are not mutually exclusive as shown by the Peerless Ezra Slide Bar with Hand Shower system. Peerless has also rolled out an expansion of its Precept Bathroom Collection with ADA products that prioritize accessible living while keeping aesthetics front and center.
Fashion Greets Function
Ruvati debuts innovation with a new addition to their line of workstation sinks for the wet bar. The new Ibiza Collection features a patent-pending design with dynamic jets for fast and easy cleaning perfect for a home bar, RV or a “tiny” house setting.
California Faucets “cooks up convenience” with an expansion of their award-winning Kitchen Collection. The Pot Filler features the same Italian-inspired design and California craftsmanship as the original Kitchen Collection and is designed to coordinate with faucets. The Pot Fillers faucets add an attractive aesthetic, and eliminate lugging heavy pots to the sink, while keeping the sink open for other tasks.
Elkay quartz sinks offer superior durability and resistance to stains and heat. They also provide a wide range of design options, including stone-like finishes for a unique look. Available in a range of bold colors, Elkay’s Quartz sinks combine natural quartz with high-performance acrylic resin to resist stains, smudges and color fading; the sinks are heat safe up to 535°F.
Drain Away Your Worries
California Faucets’ award-winning ZeroDrain comes in more than 25 artisan finishes, allowing coordination with any lavatory or tub faucet for a design-forward appearance. The nearly-impossible-to-clog drain offers a cleaner look, quicker installation (fewer parts), and easier maintenance than drains of the past. Made of solid high-quality brass, ZeroDrain works with most sinks and tubs (both drop-in and freestanding) with or without overflow holes.
Oatey’s QuickDrain BenchDrain linear drains are built directly into QuickDrain’s proprietary shower bench seat, which is built with polyethylene terephthalate (PET) panels made of 100% recycled plastic bottles. The result is a concealed, luxurious barely-there drain and state-of-the-art shower and spa experience. The shower bench meets ADA requirements.

Artful Sinks
Kohler’s Kast Holm Collection shows off a fresh style dimension with a terrazzo insert for a fusion of materials not often seen together. Inspired by the timeless appeal of terrazzo, Holm seamlessly integrates speckled visuals with the tactility of concrete. The terrazzo insert enhances the aesthetic appeal and discreetly conceals the basin. The insert can be easily removed for cleaning.
The Prim basin in Sandcastle in the Kast Wave Collection is exclusively designed for countertop placement. This contemporary collection highlights curves, playfulness and sophisticated design and features British ingenuity with concrete from Derbyshire limestone.
“Our experience in commercial, industrial, and residential building over the past 25 years has allowed us to face the constant changes with modern technology in respect to plumbing materials. Web-based materials that are now available allow end users peace of mind when a potential issue arises, and contractors can monitor consumption, water quality, energy savings, and obtain training data for future use. Choosing the right modern fixtures also provides increased property value, improved aesthetics, and better functionality.” – Eric Russell, Russell Construction Group
